GSAÉD Co-Representative  |  MASc Candidate (BMG)

 

Olivia is a MASc student working under the supervision of Dr. Jean-Phillipe St-Pierre. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences with a specialization in Biochemistry at Queen’s University in 2022. Her research focuses on the development and characterization of alginate based bioinks for 3D bioprinting cartilage tissue. 
As the GSAÉD Co-Representative, Olivia sits on the board of directors for GSAÉD and acts as a liaison and advocate for the department of Chemical and Biological Engineering.

May Ourabi

Treasurer |  Ph.D. Candidate​​

 

May is a PhD candidate in the Lessard Research Group working on carbon nanotube-based thin-film and electrolyte-gated transistors. She earned a B.A.Sc. in Chemical Engineering with an option in Environmental Engineering from uOttawa in 2022. In her free time, May enjoys embroidery, baking and drinking coffee ☕

​As treasurer, May will make sure CBEGSA is in a comfortable financial position to offer fun and engaging activities to members throughout the year, as well as the years to come.

Michael Mulholland

Communications OfficerPh.D. Candidate

Michael is a Ph.D. student under the supervision of Dr. St-Pierre. He completed his B.A.Sc./B.Sc. in 2019 at uOttawa, double-majoring in Chemical Engineering and Computing Technology. His graduate research focuses on developing an in vitro cell culture model of cartilage calcification to explore biomineralization mechanisms related to the pathology of osteoarthritis. Outside of school, Michael enjoys cooking, playing games, spending time outdoors, and exploring his hometown of Ottawa.

As the Communications Officer, Michael will work with the CBEGSA executive team to inform CHG students via communications channels including the website, email and social media.

Otome Obukohwo

Department Representative |  Ph.D. Student

 

Otome went through the Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering program at the University of Ottawa and now he is a Ph.D. student working on CFD simulations of tribo-electrification in pneumatic conveying systems. When he’s not working, he’s playing football, either with his feet or with a controller. 
As the department representative, Otome sits in on the Department meetings and aims to maintain a clear channel of communication between the graduate students and the Department staff.

Joanne Woloszyn

Activities Coordinator | Ph.D. Student

 

Joanne is a PhD student working under the supervision of Prof. Clémence Fauteux-Lefebvre. She completed an Honours BSc in Biochemistry (2021), BASc in Chemical Engineering (2021), and MASc in Chemical Engineering (2023) at the University of Ottawa. Her current research focuses on kinetic and transport phenomena studies for continuous flow multiphase catalytic reactor design for hydrogenation reactions in pharmaceutical applications.
 
As Activities Coordinator, Joanne will work with the CBEGSA executive team to organize social, academic, and professional activities that serve the CHG graduate student community.

CUPE Representative

 

The CUPE representative will represent and advocate for graduate students at SCFP-CUPE 2626 general meetings, as well as inform you on CUPE 2626 activities and services.

As this position is currently vacant, CBEGSA would invite any graduate students in the department interested in representing their peers as the CUPE representative to contact us.
